The banner, titled "Nightmare on Normal Ave" was made by SDS Members, Lisa Grab, Aldo Guerrero, Esha Kallianpur, and Katherine Oakes. For about a week, during homecoming, the banner was on display in the Student Center lobby. After the contest, SDS was informed that their banner won Honorable Mention.
Depicted on the banner are privatized buildings eating students, homeless and jobless graduates encamping on the Alumni Green, clogged parking lots, a puppet SGA member being controlled by a vampire Susan Cole (who is also clutching a $125,000 bonus check), and more!
Those who made the banner were shocked by its award. Almost everyone who saw the banner was certain that it would be censored and that SDS would have to take legal action.
Currently, the banner is still used at SDS events.
